Promoting your next company event in this economy can be challenging to say the least. People are more selective with how they spend their money and often times, it comes down to how much bang they can get for their buck.
Well social media is here to help.
Online social platforms can help to increase attendance to your event at no cost. So what are you waiting for? Here are 5 ways to promote your next company event using social media.
- Social Calendars. Putting your event on social calendars can be an affective way to promote your event. But remember to use sites that are trade specific. For example, if you are having a $200 a plate black tie dinner, then look at sites that receive traffic from educated, higher paid subscribers. Gary’s Guide, newspaper/tv station calendars and trade publication websites are great places to start.
- Facebook Event. Facebook is still king, so having a presence on the site is a must. Creating a facebook event is an easy way to promote your company’s event. Just be sure to be very specific and show the value attendees will get for their money, whether it be a donation to a worthy charity, food, prizes, etc.
- Tweet. Tweeting a media alert can be a great way to a.) notify media who follow you on Twitter and b.) get the word out for your event. Twitter makes the spread of information so fast and easy, your event will be all over the twitosphere in no time.
- Video Teaser. A short, 30 second video hyping your upcoming event can be a great way to build excitement as well as maintain a presence on YouTube (the second most used search engine after Google). Use key words that directly relate to your event and be sure to provide a link to purchase tickets.
- Location Check-ins. Using location based platforms like Go Walla, Foursquare and Facebook Places can help to increase awareness of your upcoming event and make followers feel like they are a part of the planning process. Every time you are at the venue or a place preparing for the event, be sure to check in and let others know you are getting ready.
Promoting your company’s next event can be an overwhelming task but social media is here to help. By using these 5 quick and easy tips, your bash will be on the road to success in no time.
